MTN Group has opened its 2026 Technology Hackathon to employees and external innovators, inviting participants to develop practical solutions in artificial intelligence (AI), AI-powered radio access networks (AI-RAN), fintech and digital infrastructure.
The initiative forms part of the telecommunications group’s Ambition 2030 strategy, which focuses on creating opportunities for technology and innovation to translate into practical applications across Africa.
Participants are expected to work alongside industry experts and partners to develop their ideas towards a proof of concept (PoC) or minimum viable product (MVP). The hackathon is open to innovators with problems to solve, opportunities to explore or ideas ready for testing.
Charles Molapisi, MTN Group Chief Technology and Information Officer, encouraged participants to develop solutions that expand connectivity, reach underserved communities and unlock Africa’s potential.
Entries for the MTN Group Technology Hackathon 2026 close on 12 October 2026. The initiative is intended to support innovation and the development of technology solutions that address challenges across the continent.
