The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has introduced Quick Response (QR) codes to make it easier for eligible voters to locate Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection centres ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Commission disclosed that voters can scan the codes available through its official social media platforms and website to identify their designated PVC collection locations.
Speaking at a press conference at INEC’s headquarters in Lagos, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ayobami Salami, urged eligible voters to collect their PVCs, verify their registration details and obtain election-related information only from official sources.
Salami also emphasised the importance of voter participation as the Commission steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
INEC disclosed that preparations were ongoing in other critical areas, including the procurement and testing of voter accreditation devices, improvements to election-result transmission systems, logistics arrangements, and the recruitment and training of electoral personnel.
The Commission added that it was taking steps to strengthen its operational capacity to ensure a smooth and efficient electoral process.
The introduction of QR codes forms part of INEC Lagos State’s efforts to improve access to voter information, encourage registered voters to confirm their details and ensure they obtain their PVCs before election day.
INEC has reiterated the importance of PVC collection, as every registered Nigerian voter must possess a valid Permanent Voter Card to exercise their voting rights during elections.
