A couple, Ahmed Abubabar Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old daughter, Fatima, have regained their freedom after being abducted from their residence in Kaduna State.

The family was kidnapped on October 6, 2026, at their home in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

They were reportedly released on Thursday, October 15, and were on their way back to Kaduna metropolis as of the time this report was filed.

Details surrounding their release remain unclear. However, according to Daily Trust, a retired security officer who had been working with his team to secure their freedom confirmed that the family had been released.

The retired officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victims were returning home in a vehicle driven by his driver.

“Yes, they are on their way back home with my driver. It was the efforts of my team and some private individuals that led to their release,” he said.

The abduction had sparked concern after a video showing the couple and their baby in the custody of their abductors surfaced on social media days after the incident.

The footage drew widespread outrage, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the safety of the family, particularly the six-month-old baby.

Their release comes nine days after they were abducted from their home.
