A Shari’a Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, on Tuesday ordered one Tajuddeen Murtala to leave his matrimonial home to his ex-wife, Hidayat Yusuf and their children.

The Judge, Malam Mu’awiya Shehu also ordered Murtala to continue taking full responsibility for his children.

The ex-wife had earlier prayed the court to grant her custody of their six children alongside maintenance fees.

She said through her lawyer, Sadau Garba, that her ex-husband issued her the third divorce letter two weeks ago while nursing her 10-month-old baby.

The counsel added that Yusuf lives at Sardauna Crescent, Kaduna with six children.

“We pray the court gives Yusuf custody of the children and make Murtala take responsibility for all their feeding, school, health and clothing.

“We pray he continues paying rent for the house she is living in with the children,” the counsel requested.

The counsel pleaded to the court to make Murtala leave the house since they were not married so as to avoid anything bad from happening.

The case has been adjourned to Nov. 24 for further hearing.
