According to the report, the cause of death was not immediately disclosed but his remains had been deposited at the morgue and an autopsy was scheduled to be performed very soon.

He was married to Evelyn and blessed with three children.

Prophet TB Joshua was a prominent preacher on television. He used his platform to evangelise on a global scale that brought many christians from far and wide. He established Emmanuel TV, one of Nigeria’s largest Christian broadcast stations, available worldwide, which is run by SCOAN.

In 2014, SCOAN was at the focus of a multi-national investigation following the collapse of the church headquarters which left dozens killed and many others injured.

TB Joshua denied allegations of negligence however, a trial was set up over the incident which was still in progress before his death.

In the first quarter of 2021, Emmanuel TV was suspended from YouTube due to certain homophobic statements made by TB Joshua. The incident stirred controversy between secular and  non-secular organizations.

Prominent Human right groups petitioned the administration of Facebook to sanction the TV network.
