Wale Adeniran, the deputy Alana of Ilana Omo Oodua worldwide, the Yoruba self-determination group, has resigned.

In a statement issued on Monday, the former commissioner for education in Osun said he is resigning from his role as an executive but will remain a member of the freedom-fighting organisation.

Adeniran said he is resigning based on principle, adding that the reason for his resignation is between him and Banji Akintoye, the leader of the group.

“Dear professor Banji Akintoye, as a matter of principle, I hereby give notice of my resignation from the position of Deputy Alana, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, with effect from Sunday, November 6th, 2022,” he said.

“However, given my irrevocable commitment to the realisation of an Independent and Sovereign Yoruba Nation State, separate from Nigeria, I hereby affirm that I remain a dedicated and staunch member of our freedom-fighting organization, Ilana Omo Oduduwa.”

His resignation comes less than 48 hours after Maxwell Adeleye, the group’s spokesperson, resigned from his position.

Speaking to TheCable, Adeleye confirmed his resignation and that of Adeniran, adding that he will give his reasons for the development at an appropriate time.

“It is true that Wale Adeniran resigned his position as the deputy, just as I have also resigned,” he said.

“This is not the time to talk about the reasons, but in due time, I will talk about it.”
