Ace Nigerian actor, Adebayo Salami, is set to release a movie marking his 60th year in the entertainment industry.

The 73-year-old thespian was born on May 9, 1953. His acting journey began in 1964.

In a recent video shared by Femi Adebayo, his son, the veteran actor will make his 60-year journey in the industry with the film titled ‘Her Excellency’.

Adebayo said the movie will premiere on June 29 and be available in cinemas on July 4.

“I am going to take a pause and give you that honour. Daddy has spent 60 years in the entertainment industry. Yes, 60 is big and much. And we are here to honour and celebrate daddy with a very big film coming to the cinemas from the 4th of July,” he said.

“It is titled ‘Her Excellency’. It is Daddy’s film. We are going to be doing the premiere on the 29th of June. It is to celebrate and honour the fact that he has spent 60 years in this industry.”

Adebayo said there was no better way to honour his father’s impact in the industry, adding that ‘Her Excellency’ “reflects the depth of his passion and dedication to the craft”.

“What better way to honour this incredible milestone than with the release of his latest masterpiece: Her Excellency — a film that reflects not just his artistry, but the depth of his passion and dedication to this craft,” he wrote.

“This moment isn’t just for him, it’s for every dreamer, every creative, every artist who dares to build, to sacrifice, to endure.
Daddy, your legacy lights the path for generations. I remain forever grateful to call you father and teacher.”

Salami began his acting career with the Young Concert Party group, led by Ojo Ladipo, also known as Baba Mero.

The group’s name changed throughout the years, evolving from Ojo Ladipo Theatre Group to Awada Kerikeri Theatre Group.

Following Ladipo’s passing in 1978, Salami assumed group leadership, propelling him into the spotlight.

He made his cinematic debut in the first-ever Yoruba film, ‘Ajani Ogun’, where the late Adeyemi Afolayan played the lead role.

In 1985, he produced his first movie, ‘Ogun Ajaye’, under the Awada Kerikeri banner.

Since then, he has become a notable force in the Yoruba film industry, actively producing and directing numerous movies.

The artistic legacy continues with his sons, Femi Adebayo, Tope Adebayo, and Sodiq Adebayo, establishing themselves as successful actors and movie producers
