Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki congratulates Nigerians on the occasion of the 65th Independence Day, when he stated that;
As we take the day to reflect on the state of our nation — weighing how far we have come, against how much farther we still have to go, it is important to renew our individual and collective commitments to building a country where justice, opportunity, and dignity are the inheritance of every Nigerian.
While that journey demands honesty about our present challenges, it also requires faith in our strength as a people. We have seen, time and again, that when Nigerians come together with courage and conviction, we can overcome even the most daunting obstacles.
Despite everything, at 65, our task as a people, as patriots, as Nigerians, therefore, is to deepen the values that hold us together. Values like fairness and respect for one another. It is to strengthen the institutions that safeguard our freedoms, and to create an economy that rewards diligence. These are the foundations upon which our next 65 years should be built.
Today is a reminder that, despite our difficulties, our story as Nigerians is still being written. Every generation has its own specific part to play. And so we must play our part with courage, integrity, and faith by building a nation where every Nigerian, no matter their background, can find justice and opportunity.
In the end, the greatness of Nigeria will not be told in the challenges we faced, but in how we overcame them together.
Happy Independence Day!
