Court remands Church G.O for allegedly trafficking in 900kg of ‘Ghana Loud’

Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa of a Federal High Court, today, ordered the remand of Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Osasele, the General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, Okun AJAH, Ogombo road, Lekki, Lagos, for allegedly trafficking in 900 Kilogrames of Ghana Loud, a Strain of Cannabis Sativa.

Justice Lewis-Allagoa ordered the remand of the church General Overseer, popularly called Abbas Ajakaiye, after he pleaded not guilty to a count charge of unlawful dealing in the banned substance made against him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The NDLEA through its prosecutor, Barrister M. I. Erondu, while arraigning the General Overseer in a charge marked FHC/L/682c/2025, told the court that he was arrested on August 3, 2024, at Ajah, Lagos, for dealing unlawfully in the prohibited substance.

She told the court that the General Overseer’s illegal act, contravened section 11(c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, and punishable under the same Act.

The charge against the General Overseer reads: “that you Adefolusho Aanu Osasele, alias Abbas Ajakaiye, Male, Adult on or about the 3rd August, 2025 at Ajah, Lagos State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court without lawful authority dealt in 900 Kilograms of Ghana Loud, a Strain of Cannabis Sativa, narcotic drug similar to cocaine, heroin and LSD and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 11(c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.”

He however denied the allegation and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Based on his not guilty plea, the prosecutor asked for a trial date, while also urged the court to remand him in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services NCoS, pending trial.

However, his lawyer, Mimido Nyiew, informed the court that she had filed his bail application and same has been served on the prosecution.

Upon taking submissions on the bail application, Justice Lewis-Allagoa admitted him to bail in the sum of N50 million with one surety in the like sum.

The judge also ordered the surety to swear to an affidavit of means and to provide evidence of ownership of landed property within the jurisdiction of the court.

The judge while adjourning the matter to November 18, 2025, for trial, ordered that he should be remanded at the NCos’ facility pending when he is able to meet the bail conditions.
