The news of Sommie Maduagwu’s untimely demise is a profound tragedy that has robbed Nigeria and Anambra of a bright and promising young voice, Hon. Nwankwo stated. “At just 29, she had already established herself as a credible and engaging broadcaster and a learned legal professional. Her dedication and brilliance made her a genuine role model to the younger generation, demonstrating what is possible through hard work and commitment.

Hon. Nwankwo noted that the circumstances surrounding her death (an armed robbery incident) are a stark reminder of the escalating security challenges facing the Nation.

This is not just the loss of a journalist, it is a brazen assault on the safety and peace of mind of every law-abiding citizen, he asserted. I join other well meaning Nigerians, including Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Ndi Anaocha Local Government and Anambra at Large in mourning her, and I use this medium to strongly urge all security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, to conduct a swift, exhaustive, and transparent investigation into this heinous crime.
He stressed that the perpetrators must be apprehended and brought to justice without delay to serve as a clear deterrent.

“The best tribute we can pay to Sommie is to ensure that her killers are found and that concrete measures are taken to restore sanity and security to our communities. We must do more to protect the lives of our citizens, especially our future leaders like Sommie.”

Onyendozi concluded by praying for the repose of Sommie Maduagwu’s soul and offering strength to her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
