A woman who visited her family and was on her way back to her base in the United States has died mid-air.

A report by The Kenyan Diaspora Media said that the deceased, identified as Roselyne Oyaro, departed the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Saturday, October 4, 2025, with her first flight from Nairobi to Amsterdam, Netherlands, going smoothly.

“However, shortly after boarding her connecting KLM flight to the U.S., she reportedly experienced shortness of breath. The flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Canada, but sadly, she passed away before the plane touched down,” the report said.

Lamenting the sad development, The Kenyan Diaspora Media said: “Those who knew her describe Rose as kind, dependable, and deeply cherished by friends and family. She had just been in Kenya for a short visit before returning to the U.S., where she lived with her fiancé.

“Her sudden passing has left her loved ones and the wider diaspora community in deep shock and sorrow.” [News Express]
