Mrs Sijuwade Adeyanju Adeoye, has signified her intention to contest next year’s governorship election in Osun State under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Mrs Adeoye, who hails from Obaagun in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State, said she is moved by her passion for the development of the state, hence the decision to contest the governorship election next year.
Declaring her governorship ambition during a visit to the palace of the Olobaagun of Obaagun, Oba Adebisi Okunade Kayode II, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, the political activist expressed her determination to pursue her goal of leading the state, saying that she had met with eminent personalities and leaders of thought in the state regarding her ambition.
She hinted that many top leaders of the state have given her the nod to contest the governorship election, adding that her decision to contest under the ADC was born out of her conviction that the party is the only one that can rescue the state.
She said her gender would not affect her chances but rather boost it, as according to her many individuals in the state are yearning for a female governor, saying that she is convinced of her ability to deliver if given the opportunity to serve the state.
She said she had done the analysis of the current situation of the state and is ready to bring her expertise, trainings, and exposure to bear in administering the state, stressing that the state needs a well-travelled and exposed politician like her to restore its glory.
Lamenting the current situation of the state, the gubernatorial hopeful said only the ADC has the solutions to the challenges confronting the state, saying that the party is the only true progressive political party that can take the people of Osun State to the promised land.
The ADC stalwart noted that the state is blessed with abundant resources to stand tall among the comity of states if the resources are well utilised, saying that she is prepared to tap the abundant resources in the state to develop it to the admiration of all citizens.
While reminding the people of the state of the good works done by Mr Rauf Aregbesola during his two-term administration, Mrs Adeoye enjoined them to team up with the ADC for the dividends of democracy to be delivered to all parts of the state again like it was between 2010 and 2018 when Aregbesola held sway as the governor of the state.
She also charged residents of the state to get their Permanent Voters’ Cards for them to participate actively in next year’s governorship election and other future elections.
