The Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has said that the implementation strategy of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), sub-National for free trade agreement in the State, would enhance the visions of his administration agenda.
He noted that the agreement would position the state for strategic and external trade policies that would unlock prosperity, create employment opportunities for the teeming youths, among others.
The governor stated this at the Post-Engagement meeting on the State Sub-national Implementation Strategy for the AfCFTA, held at Local government Service Commission Training School, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
Addressing Newsmen at the event, Governor Makinde noted that natural resources alone cannot take the state away from poverty, adding that knowledge and productivity are necessary to complement the efforts.
Special Adviser to the Governor on International Trade and AfCFTA, Ms Neo Tihaselo, explained that the post-engagement is a statutory administrative process, which pronounced the Oyo State as a party to the African continental free trade area.
