The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has confirmed that Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, will host the Final 8 and Final 4 of the 2025 Nigeria Men’s Premier Basketball League.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Monday by the federation’s secretary, Amina Amanchi, quoting the NBBF Vice President, Babs Ogunade.
Ogunade said the federation had officially approved and awarded the hosting rights to Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club, adding that the club had committed to providing a world-class experience for participating teams and fans.
“The Rivers Hoopers have pledged to provide a standard venue, modern facilities, adequate security, medical services, and live online streaming of matches,” Ogunade said.
According to the NBBF, the Final 8 will take place from October 26 to November 3, with teams expected to arrive in Port Harcourt on October 26.
TheMomentNG reports that the Final 4, which will feature the top four teams from the competition, is scheduled for November 20 to 23, also in Port Harcourt.
“The club will also provide buses for teams, as well as financial support and accommodation subsidies for participating sides,” Ogunade added.
The federation commended Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club for its readiness to host the event, describing the gesture as a major contribution to the growth of Nigerian basketball.
Ogunade said the NBBF would continue working with clubs, sponsors, and state governments to ensure that domestic competitions meet international standards.
TheMomentNG reports that the Nigeria Basketball Federation is the governing body for basketball in the country.
It oversees the development, regulation, and organisation of domestic leagues, including the Men’s Premier League and the Women’s League, as well as the national teams, D’Tigers (men) and D’Tigress (women).
