MTN Nigeria (MTNN) has announced a scheduled network maintenance activity, which will cause temporary service disruption along the AFCOT to Bawo Village fibre route.

The organisation said on its website that the maintenance activity was part of its ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and long-term network performance.

MTNN said that the maintenance, scheduled for Oct. 25, was building on a previous intervention carried out in August 2025 along the same AFCOT–Bawo Village fibre route.

It said that in this next phase, MTN Nigeria would be executing a fibre cutover on a newly relocated cable segment from AFCOT to Bawo Village.

MTNN noted that this was a more extensive restoration aimed at eliminating previously damaged spans, reducing multiple joints, and improving optical performance and network stability.

“The maintenance activity is expected to impact 101 sites across 15 Local Government Areas in Adamawa, Borno, and Kano States.

“The areas are Kano, Nasarawa LGA, in  Adamawa, Girei, Song, Mubi North, Hong, Gombi, Fufore, Mubi South, Madagali, Michika, Maiha, Chibok and Yola North LGA, Borno, Askira/UBA and Shani LGA.

“The maintenance will involve cutting traffic to a newly-installed fibre infrastructure.

“This upgrade is necessary to eliminate damaged fibre spans and improve overall network stability.

“Due to the linear and unprotected nature of the route, services will be interrupted during the maintenance window,’’ it said.

According to the website, the maintenance will start on Oct. 25 at 6:00 a.m to 8:00 a.m, with temporary service disruption affecting 101 sites across 15 LGAs, including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 10 enterprise services.

“MTNN regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates customers’ understanding,’’ it said.
