The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Archbishop Stephen Adegbite, said on Saturday that the time had come to end terrorism and other forms of violent acts in Nigeria.

Adegbite made the remark in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) while reacting to the U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning and Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s 90-day ultimatum to end terrorism in the country.

He recalled that the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, during his November Holy Ghost Service, urged President Tinubu to end terrorism within 90 days or sack the Service Chiefs.

The NCPC boss described Nigeria as God’s project that could not be destroyed by anyone and urged Nigerians to play their part in restoring peace and progress to the nation.

He noted that an insurgency that had lasted for 15 years could not be defeated within 90 days, as it had become complex.

Adegbite further explained that this was not the time to issue timelines, though he acknowledged that the pastor was entitled to his opinion based on his own perspective.

He emphasised that what was needed now was for everyone to rally support and work with the government to end the menace.

“There are factors that have continued to fester insurgence such as people that co-habit with them and conceal useful information that can aid operatives to nab them.

“With what has happened now, it’s time for insurgence and banditry to stop.

“It is time for people and for the pastors to support the government with prayers to end terrorism.

“Government will never stop doing what it ought to do. Mr President is committed to ensuring that everyone lives in peace,” he said.
