Voting has ended in several polling units across Anambra State, where residents cast their ballots to elect a governor for the next four years.

Sources reports that accreditation and voting commenced around 8:30 a.m. in many of the state’s 5,720 polling units, spread across the 21 local government areas.

Despite early commencement, voter turnout remained low across much of the state. The exercise was also overshadowed by numerous reports of vote-buying.

According to INEC, Anambra has 2,802,790 registered voters, with females forming a slight majority.

A total of 15 political parties are challenging the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which is seeking to retain control of the state.
