The wife of the Ondo State Governor, Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government to women’s empowerment and development in the country.

Aiyedatiwa made this affirmation at the flag-off of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Women Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Training and Empowerment Programme on Tuesday in Akure.

The programme was in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

Represented by the wife of Akure South Local Government Chairman, Mrs Bosede Fasua, the governor’s wife said that the Initiative was a confirmation of the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering gender equality and harnessing the potential of women.

She noted that the importance of ICT to women could not be overemphasised.

According to her, it is imperative for women to acquire ICT skills in order to be empowered and be competitive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

The governor’s wife said that the training programme, which would be launched in six states simultaneously, was to empower 40 women in each of the targeted states.

She commended NITDA for its impactful efforts in bridging the digital divide across the country, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

Aiyedatiwa said that the initiative would accelerate economic diversification through industrialisation and digitalisation.

Earlier, the Director-General of NITDA, Mr Kashifu Abdullahi, said the mission of the agency was to transform Nigeria into a sustainable digital economy powered by technology and innovation.

Abdullahi, represented by Mr Siyaka Etudaye, a staff member of the agency, emphasised that women are leaders, creators, and innovators who play vital roles in families, communities, and the nation at large.

He appreciated Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, and the governor’s wife for their unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment and their support for digital inclusion.
