The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Wednesday displayed over six thousand litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) recovered from smugglers in the Badagry area of Lagos State.

The Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, warned all vandals and illegal dredgers in the state while parading the suspects in Lagos on Wednesday.

He said that, in line with the vision of the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to deploy the three Cs—Collaboration, Cooperation, and Coordination—Lagos State Command had taken strategic steps to curb the illegal activities of vandals and economic saboteurs.

He added that the command had achieved another milestone through its recent successful operations.

“On Friday, Nov.7, the Badagry Division led by its Divisional Officer, Chief Superintendent of Corps Ekunola Gbenga upon receiving credible and actionable intelligence about the illicit activities of some unscrupulous elements moved swiftly into action to stop them.

He said that the criminals, known for siphoning fuel and other petroleum products in the area, fled and abandoned about 150 25-litre yellow kegs and other Ragolis containers containing petroleum products.

Some additional kegs that were set for loading were also left behind before the suspects were intercepted by the officers and men of the Corps.

Keshinro also appreciated the Nigerian Navy for handing over recovered seventy three ( 73 ) 25 litre yellow kegs of PMS to the Badagry Division of the Command as a result of the good collaborations that existed between both services in the state .

He also warned all unrepentant saboteurs to desist from their dastardly actions, especially during the end-of-year season when they might attempt anything to make money.

He affirmed that such individuals would face stiffer resistance from the officers of the Corps in the state.

He further cautioned illegal dredgers operating under the Third Mainland, Carter, and Eko bridges to stop their activities, which could undermine the integrity of the bridges and endanger lives as well as critical national assets and infrastructure.

He reiterated that the command would continue to engage stakeholders on the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.

He noted that the ongoing initiative would be launched in Lagos West on Tuesday,  Nov. 18, to promote community awareness and sensitization.

He assured that the command remained resolute in working closely with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to prevent acts of economic sabotage that could threaten peace, safety, and security.
