The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, on Monday hosted youth leaders from 14 political parties in a cross-party engagement aimed at strengthening youth inclusion in governance.

The interactive dinner which was described as the first of its kind in the nation’s political sphere, held in Lagos, brought together representatives of NRM, BOOT, AAC, APM, ADP, APGA, PDP, NNPP, PRP, AA, YPP, SDP, LP, and ZLP marking one of the rare moments of political convergence among young leaders in the state.

In his remarks, Hon. Ogunlende stressed the need to draw a clear distinction between politics and governance, noting that effective leadership must prioritise service delivery and the welfare of all citizens regardless of party affiliation.

“Governance is different from politics. Our focus must be on ensuring that no one is left behind,” the Commissioner said, urging the youth representatives to embrace collaboration in the interest of Lagos State and Nigeria.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilisation, Mr. Opeyemi Alabi, praised the initiative, describing the gathering as evidence of what young Nigerians can achieve when united by a common purpose.

According to him, the cross-party dialogue demonstrated the potential of youth engagement to drive development and promote peaceful coexistence.

The meeting ended with a joint commitment from all youth leaders present to deepen cooperation and continue supporting policies that advance youth development and national progress.

Hon. Ogunlende reaffirmed the state government’s readiness to widen the space for youth participation, insisting that building a greater Nigeria requires shared responsibility, mutual respect, and sustained partnership across political divides.
