Actress Bimbo Akintola has stated why she backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 elections, claiming that bullying impacted her decision.

In a recent interview with Chude, Akintola said that her decision was partially motivated by criticism from an opposition fan. She urged Nigerians to appreciate various political perspectives.

“I supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last election because somebody annoyed me with their bullying,” Akintola said.

She added, “Nigerians are annoying. Don’t bully other people. We have our rights to differences of opinion. You don’t like this man [Tinubu], that’s fine. You prefer someone else, good for you. But don’t bully others.”

The actress also condemned the harsh criticism faced by veteran actress Joke Silva for supporting Tinubu. She recalled making her own video in support of the president as a stand against the bullying.

“We need to stop bullying. We need to agree that we can never agree with everybody. That’s what makes us great and beautiful. Till tomorrow, you might not agree that he was the best person for the job, but at that point, that was who I wanted, that was who I voted for. You can’t take my voice away from me; it’s mine,” she said.
