President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Sunday Akere, a former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Osun State, as the state coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
Akere previously served as Special Adviser to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and is among appointees representing all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for the 2027 re-election campaign.
The inauguration ceremony for the ambassadors took place in Abuja, led by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma, who was appointed as the National Coordinator of the initiative by President Tinubu.
In a statement to journalists in Osogbo yesterday, Akere expressed his gratitude for the appointment, framing it as a call to mobilize support for the President in Osun and the wider South West region.
“President Tinubu deserves our unwavering backing due to his impressive track record in office, particularly his commitment to developing both the country and the South West through initiatives like the South West Development Commission (SWDC), which aims to enhance economic and social growth in the region,” Akere stated.
He praised President Tinubu as a “bold leader who ensures fairness, equity, and transparency in governance,” highlighting the rehabilitation of many federal roads in the South West that were previously in disrepair. “He is a visionary leader making decisions for the long-term benefit of the country and its citizens. Such a leader deserves our collective support to realize his commendable programmes,” Akere added.
Additionally, he commended Governor Uzodinma for his appointment as National Coordinator, describing him as a transformative leader who has driven significant development in Imo State.
Akere also recognized the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for his leadership within the Ministry and for steering the affairs of the APC in Osun, asserting that such developmental efforts will contribute to Tinubu’s re-election prospects in the state and the region.
“I am excited to work under Governor Uzodinma. His dedication and leadership will guide us in ensuring the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Akere concluded.
Governor Uzodinma has tasked the ambassadors with returning to their respective states to initiate immediate mobilization efforts for the President’s 2027 re-election campaign, emphasizing that their work must commence without delay.
