Speaking on behalf of the Governor, the Special Adviser on Legislative Matters, Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong, described Hon. Idiong as a model lawmaker whose dedication to service, generosity and commitment to humanity exemplify democratic leadership.

Quoting the Governor, Ekpenyong said, “Tell Hon. Sampson Idiong that I love him and I am proud of him. Without the legislature, the executive cannot function effectively. I thank the legislature for appropriating budgets. Hon. Idiong has done well and should continue.”

Ekpenyong added that the Governor’s message reflected the spirit of unity and cooperation necessary for grassroots development. He also announced a ₦10 million support fund from the Governor to further encourage development initiatives in the constituency.

In his remarks, Hon. Idiong expressed gratitude to Governor Eno for his support and pledged continued collaboration with the executive and other stakeholders to deliver people-oriented projects across Oruk Anam.

The Deputy Chief Whip of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly thanked his constituents for their support since assuming office and assured them of more dividends of democracy.

He listed the empowerment items distributed to beneficiaries to include three cars, four tricycles, 45 motorcycles, 39 sewing machines, 13 vulcanising machines, 40 generating sets, 40 haircutting accessories, 26 standing hair dryers, 26 hair-washing basins, 33 knapsack sprayers and 13 grinding machines.

Cash disbursements included ₦10 million grants to 200 students, ₦10 million cash support to selected elders, ₦10 million to stakeholders, as well as various business grants ranging from ₦100,000 to ₦3 million, benefitting over 150 individuals.

In his goodwill message, Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, commended Idiong’s commitment and team spirit, noting that constituency briefings are not funded through security or special votes.

“The House of Assembly has no security vote for constituency briefings. What you see here is purely from his benevolence, supported by legislative foresight and the Governor’s generosity,” Otong said.

Earlier, the Chairman of Oruk Anam Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sunday Festus, welcomed guests and highlighted the effective synergy between the executive and legislature in delivering development at the grassroots.
