Former Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga has been suspended by his Norwegian club, Molde FK, after being charged by police in connection with an alleged sexual assault.
In a statement released on Friday, the Eliteserien side confirmed that the matter was reported to the police in late April 2025 and that Daga has now been formally charged with committing a sexual act without consent.
The alleged offence falls under Section 297 of the Norwegian Penal Code.
Legal proceedings are expected to begin in March 2026 at the Nordmøre and Romsdal District Court.
Molde said both the club and the player have cooperated fully with Norwegian police since the investigation began. Following notification of the indictment, Daga has been barred from all training sessions and matchday activities until further notice.
A source at the player’s former club in Nigeria also confirmed the development, according to the Punch.
Before his suspension, the 20-year-old last appeared for Molde on November 24 in a 2-1 away victory over Strømsgodset. He has made 15 appearances for the club this season across all competitions, scoring twice in the league.
Daga joined Molde in January from FC ONE Rocket, signing a three-year contract.
On the international stage, he featured for Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in October, his second appearance at the tournament. Nigeria were eliminated in the round of 16 after a 4-0 defeat to Argentina.
The case remains before the courts, and no verdict has been delivered.
