Court jails 2 hard drugs producers 10 years

Two hard drugs manufacturers, Yussuf Abayomi Azeez and Kekere-Ekun Abideen, have been convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment each by a Federal High Court, Lagos, for producing series of prohibited hard drugs.

The two drugs manufacturers were given the jail terms by Justice Akintayo Aluko, sequel to their guilty plea to five counts charge made against them by the anti-narcotic agency, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The convicted drugs producers, according to the prosecutor, Barrister Abu Ibrahim, were arrested on November 6, 2025, in a clandestine laboratory at 19, Vincent Eku Street, off Ashela Street, Royal Estate, Ogombo, Lagos State, where they used in producing the prohibited drugs.

Specifically, Barrister Abu who is a Commander of Narcotics and Head of Legal/Prosecution department of the MMIA NDLEA Command, informed the court that the two convicts were arrested with 9.9 kilograms of MDMB-4en-PINACA, a synthetic cannabinoid, 600 Grams of ISOTONITAZENE, a synthetic Opioid, 26.183 kilograms of ADB CHMINACA, a synthetic cannablinold, 300 Grams of (R) SF MDMB, a synthetic cannabinoid and 20 Grams of 4FLUORO BUTINA, a synthetic cannabinoid.

He also told the court that during the convicts’ arrest, a sum of N1, 085, 000, was recovered from them.

Abu told the court that the illegal acts of the two convicts are contrary to and punishable under sections 20(1)(a) and 20 (2)(a) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The convicted pleaded guilty to the five counts charge.

Following their guilty plea, the prosecution through a witness, Abayomi Oreoluwa, tendered all the exhibits, which included bulk of the drugs, their confessional statement, the recovered sum and others

The prosecutor thereafter urged the court to convit and sentence them accordingly.

But their lawyer, Chief Benson Ndakara leading two other lawyers, pleaded with the court to be merciful with his clients.

He urge the court to consider the early guilty plea the Convicts as a sign of remorse and that they have vowed not to engage in any firm of crime.

Based on the counsel submissions, Justice Aluko sentenced the two convicts to a jail-term of five years, 10 years, six years, two years and two years in counts one, two, three, four and five. The judge however held that the jail-term shall run concurrently.

In considering non-custodian sentence as requested by convicts’ lawyer, the judge ordered each of the convicts to pay N10 million as a fine option to the jail-term.
