Lin Jian, Spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, has reiterated China’s resolve to safeguard its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Lin disclosed this on Monday during the regular virtual news briefing organised by the Ministry in Beijing, China.
According to him, China’s resolve to safeguard its national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity is unwavering.
“Any act that crosses the line and provokes on the Taiwan question will surely be met with a firm response from China”.
He explained that Russia is opposed to Taiwan’s independence in any form, saying it would support China in safeguarding its national reunification and territorial integrity should the situation in the Taiwan strait escalate.
“China highly appreciates Russia’s consistent and firm position of supporting China on the Taiwan question. The Taiwan question is China’s internal affair.
“The one-China principle is a universal consensus of the international community and a basic norm of international relations.
“China’s resolve to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity is unwavering,” Lin said.
He described the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s conduct of military exercises as severe punishment for the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces’ attempt to seek independence by force.
He warned against external forces that use Taiwan to contain China and arm Taiwan, adding such will only embolden the arrogance of the Taiwan independence, and push the Taiwan Strait into a dangerous situation of military conflict, and war.
“The Taiwan question is at the core of China’s core interests. China’s resolve to safeguard national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity is unwavering.
“Any egregious act that crosses the line and provokes on the Taiwan question will surely be met with a firm response from China.
“Any sinister plot to obstruct China’s reunification will never succeed,” he said
