Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa, says he remains the bonafide Chairman of the Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

He said, “The claim that a decision from the ward level dismisses me from the party is baseless.

“As far as I’m concerned, it remains invalid. I still consider myself the Chairman of NNPP in Kano State.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dungurawa was reacting to his earlier alleged suspension by the executive members of the party in his Gargari Ward, Dawakin Tota Local Government Area of the state.

Dungurawa also declared that he remained a bonafide member of the party and the duly recognised chairman, dismissing reports suggesting otherwise as baseless and misleading.

He brief  journalists on Tuesday in Kano, amid growing speculation over the leadership tussles and alleged defections within the party’s Kano state chapter.

Dungurawa maintained that neither the state nor the national leadership of the NNPP had taken any decision removing him from office, insisting that his position remained intact.

According to him, NNPP leader Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso had been engaging party stakeholders to strengthen internal cohesion and reposition the party for greater success.

Dungurawa described attempts by some individuals to expel him as “inconsequential” and lacking constitutional backing.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the NNPP and its leadership, warning against external forces seeking to destabilise the party through misinformation and internal discord.

The executive members of NNPP in Gargari ward, had reportedly expelled  Dungurawa, from the party.

NAN also reports that 27 executive members endorsed the decision, reached at the ward’s second executive meeting.

The meeting was led by the ward’s Chairman, Shuaibu Hassan, alongside the Secretary, Yahaya Saidu-Dungurawa.

The decision cited allegations of creating divisions, instigating internal crises, failure to pay party dues, and making abusive remarks against Governor Abba Yusuf.

The ward executives described Dungurawa’s conduct as unacceptable and detrimental to the party’s image, unity, and progress.

They claimed that the action was taken in compliance with the party’s constitution, emphasizing the need for discipline, unity, and internal cohesion.

According to them, copies of the resolution had been forwarded to the party’s Local Government, State, and National Headquarters, Kwankwaso and Yusuf, for information and further directives.

The ward executives reaffirmed their loyalty to the NNPP’s national leadership under Kwankwaso and pledged continued support to Yusuf, stressing their commitment to peace, unity, and the party’s advancement.
