The Ogun State sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says six persons died, while two others sustained injuries in a road crash at the NASFAT Junction along the Lagos–Ibadan expressway.

The sector’s public relations officer, Odunsin Afolabi confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday.

According to the FRSC, the crash involved a Mazda commercial bus and a Volvo truck, resulting in six fatalities and two injured victims.
Afolabi attributed the cause of the accident to overspeeding, which led to loss of control by one of the drivers.

He added that rescue operations were carried out by personnel from the Mowe Unit, Ibafo Outpost, and the Ambulance Team from the Ojota Unit Command, in collaboration with officers of the MTD RCCG Police Division and TRACE Mowe Division.

The injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital, Lotto, for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at a morgue.

Akinwumi Fasakin, the Ogun State sector corps commander of the FRSC has directed crash investigators to conduct a full investigation into the incident.

“This is in line with our standard procedure to determine the immediate and remote causes of the crash,” Afolabi added.
