AC Milan have completed the signing of Germany striker Niclas Fullkrug on loan from West Ham, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Niclas Fullkrug, 32, arrived in England ahead of the 2024-2025 campaign after a standout year with Borussia Dortmund, where he helped the Bundesliga side reach the Champions League final. Fullkrug started against Real Madrid in the competition at Wembley Stadium.

That momentum failed to carry over to the Premier League. Fullkrug found opportunities hard to come by at West Ham during a period that saw the club cycle through three permanent managers.

He managed just three league goals in 26 appearances, scoring twice in nine matches under Julen Lopetegui and once in 13 outings during Graham Potter’s spell in charge.

His role diminished further following the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo in September. Since then, Fullkrug started only twice and accumulated 178 minutes of league action, prompting the London club to sanction a move away.

The switch to Italy offers a sharp change of scenery. Rather than a relegation fight in the Premier League, Fullkrug joins a title-chasing Milan side currently second in Serie A under Massimiliano Allegri.

The Rossoneri sit just one point behind city rivals Inter and are unbeaten in 15 league matches since their opening-day defeat to Cremonese.

Milan face Cagliari on Friday, and Fullkrug has already been integrated into training with his new team-mates. He will wear the number nine shirt and is expected to add a physical presence to a side that has often deployed Christian Pulisic as part of a two-man attack in a 3-5-2 system this season.
