FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has fired back at Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, mocking the Governor’s recent metaphor that likened political loyalty to a ‘dog that does not bark.

Recall that Fubara, during a New Year banquet on Thursday, took a swipe at his estranged predecessor while reacting to their renewed political tension.

According to him: “Let’s not be fooled by whatever is happening. Caesar, in one of his quotes, said, ‘the only reason why the dog barks is because it doesn’t understand.

“When the dog starts barking, maybe it is seeing something it does not understand. We are not barking because we understand. We know where we are going,” Fubara said.

The comment was widely interpreted as a veiled jab at Wike and has further deepened the political standoff between the two leaders.

‘THE BARKING DOG MADE YOU GOVERNOR’

However, Wike, while addressing residents of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area on Friday, said that the same “barking dog” was instrumental to Fubara’s emergence as governor.

“This dog that is barking now barked even when Rivers people didn’t know who the person was, and the dog that barked made the person governor when others ran away, and he is not afraid that the same dog is now barking. I wish him good luck.”

The minister reaffirmed his continued political alliance with President Bola Tinubu and insisted that his camp would not repeat past political missteps.
