A UK-based Nigerian woman, Damilola Balogun, has died following weeks of medical complications, according to a statement shared by SK the Plug (@DHKRULLAH) on X.

Damilola passed away on January 1, 2026, leaving her family and loved ones in deep mourning. She was described as a loving wife, devoted mother and the main applicant for her family’s skilled worker visa.

Just five months before her d+ath, Damilola welcomed a baby, a moment that should have marked a period of joy for her family. However, the happiness soon turned tragic when she began experiencing severe migraines.

She reportedly visited Walsall Manor Hospital, where she was treated and discharged. Three days later, she returned with similar symptoms but was again sent home after no cause was found.

Two weeks later, as the headaches persisted, she was admitted for further tests, including an MRI scan and lumbar puncture.

Medical results revealed fluid on her brain, prompting an urgent referral to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, for surgery. Although the surgery was initially successful and raised hopes of recovery, her condition worsened days later.

Three days after the procedure, Damilola slipped into a coma and was placed on life support. Despite medical intervention and prayers, doctors later confirmed she could not recover. Life support was withdrawn on the morning of January 1, 2026.

While many welcomed the New Year in celebration, Damilola’s family was plunged into grief. She is survived by her husband, three children aged 11, 10 and five months, as well as her mother and grandmother.

Since her illness began, her husband has reportedly been unable to work, exhausting the family’s savings while staying by her side through hospital admissions.

The family is now appealing for support to cover funeral expenses and care for the children left behind.
