Popular controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, will remain in detention until Monday, 19 January 2026.
The singer was on Monday arraigned before the Ogun State High Court sitting in Onipanu, Ota, on a 9-count charge bordering on stealing, assault, felony occasioning harm, resisting arrest, among others.
The accused singer, who was visibly heartbroken and intermittently crying and sobbing in the courtroom, was accused of attacking one of his wives, popularly known as Ashabi Simple, as well as some police officers.
Other people who were reportedly attacked by the singer and others on New Year’s Day at his Odogwu Bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ogun State include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
Portable, as he is fondly called, also allegedly stole a Mercedes Benz E300 with the dealer number WAlly Dex Auto D/3 597 DOG, belonging to Ileyemi Damilola David and valued at ₦12 million (twelve million naira).
The singer was arrested a few days ago after reportedly evading arrest for some days following an incident between him and the estranged mother of his two children and her sibling on 1 January.
Although Ashabi Simple was not in court on Monday, two of her siblings who claimed to have witnessed the assault were present.
According to the prosecutor, the charges against the singer are all punishable under Sections 516, 351, 383, 389, and 390 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
The singer and others, who are still at large, reportedly inflicted injuries on Ileyemi Damilola with an axe.
The police also accused Portable of obstructing a female police inspector, W/Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi, from performing her duty and assaulting the officer while she was carrying out her official duties.
The bail application by Portable’s counsel was, however, declined following the non-availability of the assaulted policewoman in court.
The presiding judge insisted on seeing the assaulted police officer before deciding on the singer’s bail application.
Portable is to be remanded in custody until 19 January, when his bail application will be determined.
