Buckle up, because we’re about to take a riveting ride down memory lane of The Real Housewives of Lagos season 2. It’s been an absolute rollercoaster of glitz, glamour and, of course, drama.
From sparkling soirées and extravagant fashion to heated showdowns, the ladies brought the heat, leaving a lasting mark on every episode. It feels like just yesterday when Chioma Ikokwu, Laura Ikeji-Kanu, Iyabo Ojo, Mariam Timmer and Toyin Lawani-Adebayo returned to our screens for the second season of the hit show alongside two new cast, Faith Morey and Tania Omotayo, and what a journey it has been.
It’s time to take a look back at the moments that stood out over the course of the season. If you have not seen RHOLagos S2, this is your cue to stop reading and go binge-watch on Showmax.
The moments that made us cackle
If you come for me, I’ll come for you
Tiannah tried to physically fight Chioma at the reunion for season 1 and the memory is rather fresh. Following an unexpected apology from Tiannah, Chioma and Tiannah scheduled a meeting to discuss their issues. They both came with low expectations. During their discussion, Chioma said, “If you come for me, I’ll come for you,” to which Tiannah hilariously responded that nobody was coming for her. This conversation went nowhere with both ladies raising their voices. Chioma came ready for Tiannah this season declaring “After beating you, my bodyguards will beat you, my Mopol will beat you, my soldiers will arrest you. You’ll be dead on arrival.” No physical altercation occured between the two beautiful ladies.
Bougie Botox Bash
If you’ve never heard about a Botox Party, you’re not alone. But the cast of RHOLagos are nothing if not trendsetters so you better get with the memo or leave the class! Dr Rommel and Faith Morey threw a Bougie Botox Bash. The ladies had high expectations since this was Faith’s first time hosting them, but the hosts showed up late, and the atmosphere was moody. They soon made up for it with a dance and free Botox presentations, not to mention Dr. Rommel gliding with his train which cracked everyone up. It gave one of the most hilarious gifs this season.
Fashion girlies unite!
An iconic entrance
Faith Morey may very well be the ‘Diamond of the Season’. Her introduction to the ladies will forever remain iconic. Mariam Timmer organised a de-stress session at a spa for everyone and Faith showed up dressed to the nines, with a corset and a train. The ladies were shocked and rattled by her 6-feet appearance, introductions were made and while Faith instantly became a fan favourite, the ladies did not take well to her.
Chioma’s yard sale
Resident ‘It’ Girl, Chioma Ikokwu auctioned some of her outfits with the proceeds going to her foundation, The Goodway Foundation. The easy competition among the ladies to see who can bid the highest was one of the best moments of the entire season and it was for a good cause.
Tiannah’s fashion exhibition
Trust the King of Fashion to go out with a bang! Tiannah threw a fashion exhibition showcasing her most iconic looks over the years. Many stars graced the runway including BBNaija stars, Phyna, Hermes, Bella, and Sheggz and fellow housewife, Faith Morey. There was also a sensual performance by Hermes. The show cemented Tiannah’s status as the fashion goddess and she made sure we’ll never forget it.
The struggles and tears
What makes the ladies endearing isn’t just the drama, they are not afraid to get up close and personal with viewers. Mariam opened up about her desire to have another child and her struggles. She took everyone along for the consultation for a surrogate, the process and emotions were hitting. Tiannah also shared her health issues and her fears of leaving her kids behind. She was absent for the last episode leaving the show for surgery and a three-month-long rehabilitation process.
The gbas gbos of a lifetime
Iyabo Ojo’s celebration
Iyabo Ojo celebrated 25 years of being in Nollywood and she did it in style. She organised a 3-day getaway trip to Epe Resorts for the occasion. Day 1 was a stripper-themed night to pay homage to her latest movie, but the ladies had other plans. No sooner had the group assembled than Faith and Mariam came at each other. The clothes were off and the claws were out. What was supposed to be a night of celebration soon became a face-off. Fortunately, the ladies managed to get the situation under control and get back on track with the celebration.
The Ife trip
Cue the royal drums! Courtesy of Tiannah, the ladies were hosted by HRM Queen Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi at the Ooni of Ife’s Palace. The hostess was gracious, and the ladies had a good time. However, what viewers remember is the fallout between Tiannah and Mariam. After a heated conversation and loyalties were put to question publicly and boldly, both women had a physical altercation that left phones broken and Mariam nearly naked.
Dr Rommel the drama
Fondly called ‘Rume Rume’ by the cast and fans, Dr Rommel made a big splash and left an impression, good or bad, you decide. Dr Rommel is a fascinating character, and his friendship and subsequent fallout with Faith made for good television. Who can forget his anticipation to meet the ladies and his thoughts after meeting them? The way he brought out his phone to Google Tania was…interesting. His friendship and subsequent fallout with Faith kept viewers entertained for weeks. Their friendship went downhill from Iyabo Ojo’s Epe trip after he talked about Faith behind her back with the ladies. Fortunately, Faith cleared the air with Dr Rommel, Tania, Tiannah, and viewers. She came with evidence to back up the fact that they are not friends and have only known each other for about five months.
Salt Beach Lake
The finale of a lifetime! Chioma organised a trip to Salt Beach Lake that served as the perfect backdrop for the final two episodes. First and foremost, Mariam and Chioma tackled the issues that had piled up between them over the season. It’s safe to say that they’re on relatively good terms now. Secondly – Laura versus Iyabo, the fight we never unexpected but served fans premium entertainment. Iyabo criticized Laura, accusing her of being fake for consistently supporting Faith. Laura finally had enough of Iyabo’s accusations and told her to admit she never liked her. Soon enough the ladies were engaged in a full out fight and at some point, Iyabo launched herself at Laura. Fortunately, she was restrained.
Faith finally cuts Tania’s clothes according to her size
“You’ve literally sat in this group like a puppet!” Faith had finally had enough of Tania’s behaviour, laughing in front of her and making snide comments behind her back. This time it was about the Morey Faith collection Iyabo was wearing. According to Tania, Faith shaded Iyabo for not paying for her purchases. Meanwhile, Faith had told Iyabo earlier that she would prefer a tag on Instagram since she’s a small business owner and Iyabo has a huge platform. Tania misinterpreted Faith’s statement about Laura paying for her jewellery as shade towards Iyabo Ojo who didn’t pay. It’s not up to us to tell you what to think but what is happening? How does a simple conversation escalate to something else? Laura and Mariam both indicate a lack of trust in Tania due to her behavior.
Laura and Mariam both attest to Tania’s behaviour saying they can’t trust her.
“He picked the wrong profession, he should have been a storyteller” – Faith Morey, 2023
You know what? We agree! Dr Rommel weaved an enchanting tale and the main character of his stories, Faith, was not aware of her part.
What did Dr Rommel not say?
Faith is trying to get a man like Paul O so she’s targeting Iyabo; Faith came with a strategy; Faith said Chioma cannot compete with her since they both studied law; Faith said Chioma is unintelligent for asking her age; Faith said she doesn’t know Tania so she googled her; Faith said, Faith said. Apparently, Faith said a lot, but we watched it and production came ready with the receipts and evidence to the contrary. With everything Dr Rommel said there was video evidence to debunk it! He called Faith a pathological liar while asking, “How can you sit and say things that never happened?”
We cannot speak about what happened behind the scenes. Still, from what we’ve watched throughout the second season, we can piece together a picture.
It was a phenomenal season, and all twelve episodes of The Real Housewives of Lagos season 2 are currently available to binge on Showmax. Join the conversations on social media using the hashtag #RHOLagos.
