Andy Stone, Meta Communication Officer also confirmed the shutdown via his X profile, stating that their team was trying to fix the problem.

He said, “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now.”

Elon Musk, the owner of X, earlier took a jibe at the Meta Platforms over the outages.

Musk tweeted, “If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working.”

About one hour after the shutdown was experienced in Nigeria, SaharaReporters observed that many users could again access their accounts.
