JUST IN: EFCC arrests Governor Sanwo-Olu’s ally, Aisha Achimugu at Abuja airport

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu’ ally, Aisha Achimugu, Nigerian businesswoman and socialite.

Her arrest was disclosed in a statement by her legal team on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Achimugu was arrested at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, shortly after arriving in the country from London.

Achimugu was declared wanted by the EFCC a month ago for alleged money laundering and other offences.

The development is coming after a Federal High Court in Abuja mandated Aisha Achimugu to appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to answer questions regarding an alleged fraud.

The judge had also directed that she must appear before the court on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
