Early Life

Moghalu was born in Nnewi, in Anambra South Senatorial District. He studied at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he earned a degree in Business Administration.

Before joining active politics, Moghalu made his mark in the private sector as a businessman and administrator.

He was the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

Political Background.

The LP flag bearer was one of the founding fathers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and served as its National Auditor.

However, in 2024, he defected to the LP

In 2025, he clinched the Labour Party’s governorship ticket after securing 575 delegate votes at the party’s primary held at Finotel Hotel, Awka.

His emergence was celebrated within LP as a move to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and consolidate its growing influence in the South East.

Campaign Message And Running Mate

Moghalu’s deputy, Ifeoma Veronica Okaro, is a retired educationist and former Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC) chairperson.

During their campaign, the duo promised transparency, youth empowerment, and infrastructural revival across Anambra’s 21 local government areas.

Their campaign is anchored on “Restoring Trust and Good Governance.”

Moghalu vowed to involve all the leaders of the party in his efforts to win the election and to add Anambra State to the LP family.

The flag-off of his campaign, attended by the party’s national leaders and former presidential candidate Peter Obi, Moghalu pledged to “redefine leadership through service, not self-interest.”
