Rep. Kabiru Maipalace (PDP-Zamfara), has spent N39.4 million on the payment of scholarships to 449 University students.
Maipalace, who disclosed this in Gusau on Monday while speaking with newsmen, said the gesture was part of his education intervention programme
Maipalace, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Sports Development, represents Gusau and Tsafe Federal Constituency.
“We have settled all the registration fees for 449 Degree students from my constituency studying various courses at various universities across the country.
“We have paid the registration fees of university students from my constituency which covered students from Federal University, Gusau, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi and the University of Maiduguri
“This is aimed at assisting the less-privileged students to settle their registration fees.
“You know, this is part of the scholarship programme aimed at sponsoring orphans and less-privileged children to pursue various degree programmes at various universities across the country”, Maipalace explained.
The lawmaker stated that all the beneficiaries, comprising males and females, were drawn from Gusau and Tsafe Local Government Areas.
“I am very serious about the education of our youths and women considering the economic hardship among people.
“I, am, therefore calling on the students who benefited from this scholarship to utilise the opportunities given to them and ensure successful completion of their studies,” Maipalace further said.
