The Super Eagles of Nigeria have climbed three places to 38th in the latest FIFA men’s world ranking, released on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

This development follows a month filled with tension, relief, and frustration for the Super Eagles.

FIFA’s update took into account 149 matches played worldwide since the previous list was published. For Nigeria, the key results were the 4-1 win over Gabon and the 1-1 draw with DR Congo, a game that slipped away in a 4- 3 penalty shoot-out during the African play-off.

Missing the 2026 World Cup remains a painful memory, but those two outings still gave the Super Eagles enough of a lift to move up the global standings.

Nigeria now have 1,502.46 points, keeping them in fifth place on the African ladder behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt and Algeria.

Morocco continue to lead Africa with 1,713.12 points and are 11th in the world. Senegal sits 19th in the world with 1,648.07 points, Egypt follow in 34th place with 1,520.68, while Algeria stay close behind on 1,516.37.

The numbers also show how tight the contest is among the teams clustered around Nigeria. Tunisia sit just behind in 40th place with 1,497.13 points. Ivory Coast and DR Congo follow with 1,489.59 and 1,442.50 points.

Morocco, however, remains comfortably ahead of the African field, holding a gap of 210.66 points over Nigeria.

FIFA noted that shifts in the table were shaped by results across several confederations, along with the completion of decisive qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup.

Spain continues to occupy the top position in the world. Argentina and France remain close behind, while Brazil jumped two places into fifth, a move that created room for other teams to shift upward.
