Sergio Ramos, at 39, is firing up for one last shot at glory with La Roja. Fresh off a solid stint at Monterrey (over 30 appearances, 7 goals, and a starring role in the expanded Club World Cup), he’s reportedly decided against renewing his contract there, which expires at the end of December.

His plan? Head back to Europe in January to lock in regular top-level minutes, proving he’s still got the bite to lead Spain’s defense alongside the likes of Lamine Yamal and the young guns.Ramos hasn’t donned the national team shirt since March 2021 (sitting on a record 180 caps), and he’s been sidelined for major tournaments under both Luis Enrique and current boss Luis de la Fuente.
