The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Katsina Command says it seized 174 wraps of Cannabis Sativa and 698,600 Tramadol tablets worth N720 million in Katsina between July 2024 till date.

The Command’s spokesperson, Mr Bello Isah, said this in Katsina on Monday while highlighting achievements of the command at a send forth party organised for Mr Idris Abba-Aji, the outgoing Controller of the command.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Abba-Aji was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General of Customs.

Isah said that the seized 174 wraps of cannabis reflected the command’s continued vigilance and commitment to curbing illegal activities.

He said that the 698,600 Tramadol tablets were seized within 17 months.

He added that in a bid to strengthen customs–community relations, Abba-Aji  in the period under review, embarked on a seven-day tour of all border stations under his command.

This visit was to assess the relationship between customs, other agencies, stakeholders, and the host communities, to foster greater collaboration and understanding

“Abba-Aji also took the campaign against smuggling and cross-border crimes to educational institutions, where he engaged students from selected secondary schools and tertiary institutions.

“The aim was to instill awareness of the dangers of smuggling and other transnational crimes affecting the state in the students,” Isah said.

Responding,  Abba-Aji commended all members of staff of the command, the Katsina state Government,  security agencies and other stakeholders for supporting him throughout his stay in the state.

He assured that the new controller to the command, Mr Tanko Dogara, would continue from where he stopped.
