YouTube has introduced a new personalised recap feature to help users better understand and celebrate their viewing habits.

The platform also released Nigeria’s 2025 top-searched creators, artists and trending content, led by the gospel hit “No Turning Back II”.

The Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa at YouTube, Addy Awofisayo, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

He noted that Nigeria’s creative scene continued to define digital culture in 2025 through fast-rising musicians and influential Nollywood storytellers.

Awofisayo said the year was marked by “explosive musical talent and captivating storytellers” who further cemented Nollywood’s global influence.

She added that the new Recap feature gives every user “a fun, personal way to celebrate the videos that made their year special”.

According to her, YouTube remains “a unique window into the heart of culture,” reflecting the sounds, stories and moments that shaped how people danced, laughed and connected throughout the year.

She said the platform’s 2025 lists show how Nigerian content continues to resonate globally, from chart-topping singles to must-watch films and skits.

Awofisayo explained that music searches in 2025 showcased a strong blend of gospel and Afrobeats, with “No Turning Back II,” Shallipopi’s “Laho,” and Davido’s “With You” among the most-watched songs and visuals.

She said the year also underscored Nollywood’s staying power and the rise of independent digital storytellers.

Channels such as Omoni Oboli TV, Itelediconstudio, and the comedy sensation Brain Jotter featured on the list of creators who captured public attention.

“These creators are not just making videos; they are building creative powerhouses and shaping the future of entertainment in Nigeria,” Awofisayo said.

She added that the newly launched YouTube Recap experience would allow users to look back at their year on the platform through personalised stats, music highlights and viewing insights.

According to her, the feature is designed to make YouTube more interactive and reflective, helping viewers rediscover the content that defined their year.
