Akindele also became the first filmmaker and director to deliver three consecutive films grossing one billion naira within a single calendar year.

In a celebratory Instagram post, FilmOne thanked audiences across West Africa for their support, describing the performance as a historic milestone for the industry.

“Thank you West Africa. Another history has been made,” the distributor said, adding the film earned N1,109,463,846, including a record N129.5 million Boxing Day gross.

‘Behind The Scenes’ explores the realities behind fame, examining success, generosity, public expectations and the emotional costs beneath glamorous appearances.

With its record-breaking run and status as 2025’s highest-grossing release, the film is expected to sustain momentum in cinemas nationwide.
