Manchester United handed Ruben Amorim a £10million pay-off after they fired him on Monday, according to the Daily Mail.

Amorim has left Old Trafford after 14 months in charge of the Red Devils.

The 40-year-old was informed of the club’s decision in an early morning meeting with chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox at the Carrington training base, following a 1-1 draw with Leeds.

It is also understood that Amorim had clashed with United’s hierarchy in the days leading to the match at Elland Road.

In total, the cost of hiring and firing Amorim is almost £27m.

United bought out his contract at Sporting Lisbon in October 2024 for £8.3m, and paid another £900,000 so he could start work early.

Amorim signed a £6.5m-a-year contract until June 2027, which meant his pay-off for the remainder of the deal is around £10.05m.
