A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has announced the suspension of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal, and several other party members.

The announcement was made by a factional chairman of the party Raji Sulaiman Zumo, during a press briefing in the state, where he accused the affected figures of anti-party activities.

However, the development has deepened the internal crisis within the ADC in Adamawa State, where different factions continue to lay claim to the party’s leadership structure.

The announcement has also generated mixed reactions, with opposing camps dismissing the suspension as invalid and lacking constitutional backing, describing the faction behind it as illegitimate.

The ADC in Adamawa has been facing prolonged leadership disputes, with multiple court cases and rival groups struggling for control of the party’s structure in the state.

The latest development adds to the growing political tension within the party ahead of future elections.
