Javier Mascherano has announced his resignation as Inter Miami’s head coach, citing personal reasons, just one season after leading the team to the greatest achievements in the club’s history.
The Argentine coach confirmed his decision in an official statement, thanking the club, players, and fans for the time spent on the bench.
“I want to announce that, for personal reasons, I have decided to end my tenure as head coach of Inter Miami. First of all, I want to thank the club for their trust, all the staff for their collective effort, but especially the players, who made unforgettable moments possible,” he said.
“I also thank the fans and the club’s family, because without them none of this would have been possible. I will always keep the memory of our first trophy close to my heart and, wherever I go, I will continue to wish them the best of luck.”
The club’s management responded immediately, with Jorge Mas highlighting the impact of Mascherano.
“Javier will always be part of the club’s history. Not just for the trophies won, like the MLS Cup, or for our run in the FIFA Club World Cup, but also for the example he set every day through his hard work and dedication. We respect his decision and thank him for everything.”
