The French Open singles champions will win 2.8 million euros ($3.3 million) this year, up from 2.55 million euros in 2025, tournament organisers announced on Thursday.

Total prize money has risen by 9.5 percent compared to last year.

Losers in the first round of singles qualifying will receive 24,000 euros, while players will be guaranteed at least 87,000 euros for reaching the main draw.

The prize money on offer for the clay-court major at Roland Garros is larger than at the Australian Open, but smaller than the other two Grand Slam events, Wimbledon and the US Open.

The tournament in Paris gets underway on May 24, with Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff the defending champions.

The French tennis federation also said farewell ceremonies would be held for 2015 men’s winner Stan Wawrinka and home favourite Gael Monfils, who will both be playing at the event for the final time.
