Guinea has taken a fresh step toward accelerating its digital transformation agenda following a new partnership between the Ministère des Postes, Télécommunications et de l’Économie Numérique and the Ministère de l’Information et de la Communication Guinée, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

During a meeting held on April 15, 2026, Minister Mourana Soumah hosted UNDP Resident Representative Anthony Ohemeng-Boamah to deepen cooperation around digital innovation and inclusion.

The discussions centred on advancing Guinea’s digital economy through the development of artificial intelligence capabilities and broader digital inclusion initiatives. Both sides agreed to formalise their collaboration through a signed project document, signalling a structured approach to joint implementation.

Key areas of focus include the establishment of technology hubs across the country and the rollout of AI training programmes aimed at building local capacity and supporting innovation ecosystems.

Minister Soumah praised UNDP’s continued support for Guinea’s development priorities, while reiterating the long-term vision of President Mamadi Doumbouya to position the country on a strong digital transformation path by 2035.

The partnership reflects growing momentum among African governments to leverage international collaboration in scaling digital infrastructure, skills, and innovation as part of broader economic transformation strategies.
