UNIPORT promotes 30 to professorial cadre

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has promoted 17 readers to professors, and 13 senior lecturers to the rank reader, the spokesman, Dr Sam Kpenu has said.

Kpenu said in a statement in Port Harcourt on Sunday that the newly promoted academic staff passed through stringent selection criteria set up by the university.

“The elevation reflects their outstanding contributions to teaching, research, and community service.

“No fewer than 17 staff members from various disciplines were promoted to professors and 13 others as readers,” the statement read in parts.

A breakdown of the promotion showed that five persons were promoted to the rank of professor in the Faculty of Science and three from the College of Health Sciences.

Three persons got promoted in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and two from Faculty of Agriculture

The breakdown further showed that Faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, Education, and Engineering got one promotion each.

In the readers’ category, five persons were promoted in the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Science had three promotions while Faculty of Engineering got two.

Further breakdown showed that the Faculties of Health Sciences, Agriculture, and Social Sciences got one new reader each.
