Former Super Eagles striker, Michael Eneramo, has died at the age of 40.

According to a report by SCORENigeria on Friday, Eneramo slumped and died while playing a football match in Kaduna State.

themomentng reports that the incident reportedly occurred at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna, where the former international was featuring in a game.

Sources who spoke with Punch said Eneramo had come on as a substitute in the second half before collapsing suddenly without any contact.

A witness said, “He slumped and died right on the spot. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.”

He was later confirmed dead at a hospital.

Eneramo played for Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, side Lobi Stars, before moving abroad to join Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis.

He spent the majority of his career in Turkey playing for clubs like Sivasspor, Beşiktaş, Karabükspor, Istanbul Başakşehir, and 2
Manisaspor.

Before his death, he was said to be managing a football academy, contributing to grassroots football development.

The official Super Eagles 𝕏 handle mourned the late striker, posting his photo with the caption, “Rest in peace, Michael.”

Eneramo’s sudden death has shocked the football community, with tributes expected from across Nigeria and beyond.
