The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Malam Shehu Mohammed, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Corps to improved operational efficiency, reduced road traffic crashes, and enhanced emergency response in 2026.
Mohammed stated this at the First Quarter 2026 Corps Marshal Strategy Session with the FRSC High Command on Thursday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the event is “Driving Excellence through Performance Review, Strategic Coordination and Enhanced Road Safety Delivery.”
He described the session as a critical platform for aligning the Corps’ operational strategies with national priorities under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
He emphasised that the strategy session was not a routine engagement but a deliberate effort to strengthen the Corps’ role in advancing public safety, enhancing national mobility and supporting economic activities through safer roads.
“The meeting comes at a crucial point in the Corps’ operational calendar, providing an opportunity to review its 2025 performance, including the outcomes of the Operation Zero Exercise.
“This also includes assessment on existing strategies and reposition the organisation for better service delivery in 2026,” he said.
Mohammed noted that the gathering of management staff, commanding officers and heads of formations reflects the Corps’ commitment to inclusive leadership, shared responsibility and coordinated implementation of policies across all levels.
He stressed that the performance review of departments, corps offices and commands should go beyond ranking, serving instead as a strategic tool for identifying operational gaps.
This, he added, including reinforcing best practices and promoting a culture of excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.
Setting the tone for the year, the Corps Marshal said 2026 must be defined by measurable impact.
“This includes improved operational efficiency, enhanced enforcement outcomes, reduction in road traffic crashes, faster emergency rescue services and increased public confidence in the Corps,” he said.
Mohammed commended officers and men of the Corps for their dedication, resilience and commitment, noting that the progress recorded so far reflects their hard work and sacrifice.
The FRSC boss urged them to remain focused on achieving greater results while calling on participants to approach deliberations with objectivity, professionalism and a shared vision for a safer Nigeria.
He stressed the need for practical, forward-looking and solution-driven engagements with clear and actionable outcomes.
He expressed confidence that the session would produce impactful strategies to further reposition the Corps for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
